(Nathan) By the by, you readers out there might find it interesting to know that it was a year ago today (well, sorta, 1 year ago on March 31'st, but the Saturday of General Conference last spring) that I proposed to Mary. That was the single most strenuous Priesthood session of conference I've ever been to! I had the ring in my inside suit pocket, and had finally decided to propose to Mary after the Priesthood session of conference. We had gone to Conference in Salt Lake City with Mary's old Singles Branch, and although we were able to attend the afternoon session of conference in the conference center (although it was basically an overflow, that was the session they held back in the Tabernacle after renovating it to rededicate it) the brethren went to the priesthood session in the Legacy Theater of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I was on the left side (if you are facing the front of the theater, right side if you're facing the back) on the very front row. I remember hearing talks about marriage and families, and was already nervous because I was going to propose to my girlfriend afterwards. President Hinckley and the rest of the speakers were about 2 to 3 stories tall! Talk about stressful! Anyways, I had some of our friends from the branch who were with Mary make sure they met us next to the reflection pool in the plaza in between Temple Square and the Church Office Buildings. I gave her a couple pennies to throw in and make a wish. I'd had 2 "coins" made, which one side said "Will you marry me?" and when I gave them to her, careful to tell her NOT to throw them in, and then on a knee, proposed. I've got some of the pictures from that weekend below. It might interest you that I had planned to have Gregorie Heilison (spelling?) take pictures for me, but was so nervous I forgot to hand her my camera! So the pictures are just a moment after Mary had said "Yes," and we sorta "re-enacted" the scene for the sake of getting pictures! Anyways, hope you enjoy the pics!
