(Nathan) This has been an interesting week, but not so wonderful for Mary. She's hit the morning sickness part of pregnancy pretty hard, and there's been a few days she's had trouble keeping anything down. I went to work Tuesday night and from text messages back and forth between us, her at home and me on the bus, I realized she was really feeling bad, to the point where she needed to see a doctor ASAP. So I got to work, and never even went really past the gatehouse, but called and had my parents come get Mary and take her to the Emergency Room at Portneuf Medical Center, while I managed to get my work to let me take a site vehicle home to catch her there. We were in the emergency room until about 4:00 AM, and Mary went through 3 1-liter bags of 0.9% sodium chloride (IV drip to rehydrate her). I guess she was dehydrated to the point that her body was not only breaking down fat, but also muscle to help her out. After the IV treatments, she felt much better, though still not 100% I guess. We went home and crashed. I'm glad things worked out, but it was a stressful experience, much more so for Mary I'm sure than for me, but still not wonderful for me either. We've been trying everything to help the nausea, and it's kindof hit and miss. The Seaband wristbands that use acupressure on both wrists for nausea prevention, gingersnaps, preggie-pops, saltine crackers, Sprite, etc. The nurse for Mary's OBGYN told us she should take vitamin B12 capsules 3 times daily, and also 1/2 a Unisom tablet twice daily (yes, the sleeping pill), once at night and once in the morning. She did get another ant-nausea prescription from the ER also. So needless to say, she's had a rough week. We're hoping this is just a 1st trimester thing, and that it won't be the whole pregnancy. So anyways, that's the latest update from the land of Mary and Nathan. Hope all of our friends and family out there are doing well!

Hang in there! I know the nausea and puking stinks, but it also means that your hormones are doing what they should be. My only advice is to eat whatever you can whenever you can. And don't eat any of your favorite foods when you think you won't keep it down, because you many never want to eat it again after you see it come back up!
All I can tell you is... avoid the orange juice. The smell of it will never be quite as sweet as it was before you had children! ;-)
UGH.... sorry to hear Mary is having it rough... Pregnancy is a pretty tough 9 months!!! Hope that the unisom and b12 help. They worked some for me!
